LaMar’s Meet & Greet Process

When given the opportunity, LaMar likes to arrive at the school 30-45min in advance. It gives him the opportunity meet the staff and students coordinating the event. It also gives him the opportunity to get a feel for the dynamics of the school, which he incorporates into the presentation.

The “Meet & Greet” takes place the day of the assembly and generally in the cafeteria; during all lunches. It can be held before or after the assembly. During the meet & greet, LaMar interacts with the students and staff. It serves as a great icebreaker and really compliments the presentation. He brings a T-shirt that will be designed with permanent marker. Depending on the theme of the day, the t-shirt will read (for example), “Drug Free Tigers” or “Bully Free Tigers”. During all lunches, students have the opportunity to sign the shirt and make the pledge to be drug free, bully free, or whatever the theme of the day might be. At the end of the day, LaMar gives the shirt to the school. Schools often display the shirt where it can be seen by the student body. It serves as a constant reminder of the pledges the students have made and the importance of making healthy decisions.
